Dental implants are one of the most popular services we offer, and both Dr. Buchholtz and Dr. Garro are skilled and experienced dental implant providers. Implants are helping many patients overcome dental issues in a permanent way that looks and feels amazing. A dental implant replaces a missing natural tooth root with a titanium post that has the capability to regenerate a brand-new tooth root.
The implant not only provides a strong, secure base for a crown or to hold a partial or denture, it helps regenerate the natural bone structure in through a process called osseointegration. The term comes from the Latin osseus–meaning bony–and integrare–which means ‘to make whole’. Through this process, the implant becomes a permanent part of your jawbone, resulting in a secure, confident, and stronger smile.
One of the greatest things about working with patients is seeing their reaction to their new smile. If you have been living with missing teeth for a while, you may have forgotten how it feels to smile without worry. Dental implants can help you regain that sense of confidence and joy.
Placing a dental implant requires several steps. First, we will have a consultation to assess your overall gum health and jawbone health. We will take a series of images and discuss if implant placement is a good option for you. If we see your supporting jawbone isn’t robust enough to hold an implant, we will discuss the option of bone grafting. Bone grafting helps patients with weak or atrophied bone structure start with a strong and healthy base. Bone can come from another area of your body, or we can use synthetic bone.
Once the structure is sound, we will be ready to place your implant. You will be comfortable during your procedure. If you are anxious, we can provide sedation options to help you relax. Once fully relaxed and numb, we will surgically implant the titanium post into the jawbone. Depending on your exact procedure, you may leave the appointment with the tooth section of the implant attached. Over the next few months, osseointegration will take place and your implant will incorporate itself to become a permanent part of your jaw. Once healed, you will return to Family Dental Practice so we can place your crown.
Implant restoration usually refers to the placement of the final crown at the end of the implant process, but Family Dental Practice can also assist with existing implants that have failed or broken or soft tissue recession surrounding a compromised implant. We would be happy to take a look!
If you currently wear dentures or are tired of treating the same teeth repeatedly, implant-supported dentures are a strong, long-lasting, and natural-looking solution. The general process requires removal of any severely decayed or problem teeth, the placement of implants in the jawbone, and finally the secure attachment of full-arch dentures. Teeth Tomorrow is a full-arch dental implant solution for patients who are missing multiple teeth. The Teeth Tomorrow procedure results in a beautiful, permanently-placed full-arch smile in just 24 hours.
